Leading off the first inning with the count at 2-2, Ohtani picked up the fifth pitch, a 95.6 mph (approximately 153.9 km/h) four-seam fastball low and outside, with the tip of his bat and swung through without forcing it. The 101 mph (approximately 162.5 km/h) liner bounced off the right front.
In his second at-bat, he hit a long fly ball to left field, but the left fielder caught it just before the fence. The ball had an initial speed of 104 mph (approximately 167 km/h) and traveled 346 feet (approximately 105.4 meters), and according to the data site Baseball Savant, it was a home run at the home stadiums of all 12 teams.
In the end, he had one hit in four at-bats. The team won a close game 5-4, marking their third consecutive win in the battle for first place. They’ve now extended their lead over the second-place Padres to two games.
