Shohei Ohtani had a rough night in his first career pitching start at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies.
The Dodgers’ two-way superstar gave up 5 earned runs and 9 hits in just 4 innings before being struck by a 93 mph line drive on his right thigh. Despite the painful blow, Ohtani stayed in the game and managed to finish the inning.
Manager Dave Roberts confirmed the injury was not serious, avoiding the knee and bone contact. Ohtani later drew a walk and hit a double, extending his on-base streak to 18 games.
This outing matched his career high in hits allowed and was his worst since July 2022. Ohtani, who returned to pitching this season after elbow surgery, now holds a 3.47 ERA.
