Seiya Suzuki’s future with the team may already be decided, and today’s front office reports suggest a bidding war is unlikely. In this video, we break down everything happening right now: 113 home runs in five seasons, a 5-year $85 million contract that is about to expire, and a Wild Card sweep by the San Diego Padres that ended the 2026 season early. Jed Hoyer said “we can’t retain everyone,” Ian Happ and Suzuki are both heading to free agency, and today’s pitching staff, including Shota Imanaga, Kevin Gausman, and David Peterson, could be almost completely rebuilt. We also look at the Toronto Blue Jays, the Yankees, the White Sox, and the Reds as possible suitors, the Alex Bregman $175 million contract, and the looming MLB lockout that could shrink the free agency window. Is letting Suzuki walk a smart pitching-first move, or a mistake this team will regret?
