The Silver Slugger finalists officially dropped today, and seeing Alex Bregman, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Seiya Suzuki all nominated—plus the Chicago Cubs earning a nod as an NL Offensive Team of the Year finalist—is huge recognition!
Even after that tough, quiet end in San Diego, this national spotlight proves the offense was dynamic all season long.
Breaking Down the Cubs’ Silver Slugger Finalists:
Pete Crow-Armstrong (Outfield): A complete lock-in candidate. Hitting 45 home runs, swiping 40+ bases, and tying for the MLB home run crown makes his offensive production downright historic.
Alex Bregman (Third Base): What an unbelievable addition. His second-half surge—crushing 19 homers with a 176 wRC+ after the All-Star break—completely elevated the heart of our order.
Seiya Suzuki (Outfield / DH): Pure consistency. Posting 26 HRs, 86 RBIs, and a team-leading .366 OBP proved once again why his bat is vital in high-leverage situations.
The Bigger Picture for Jed Hoyer:
Having three Silver Slugger finalists and a Team of the Year nomination sends a clear message to the front office: the lineup had real juice in 2026.
As Jed Hoyer pivots to building the roster for 2027, this recognition underlines why pitching is the primary target. Re-signing or adequately replacing high-output bats like Seiya while rebuilding the entire pitching staff will be the key balancing act of the off-season.
