Sales of the No. 17 Dodgers jersey to be worn by Japanese baseball star Shohei Ohtani have broken records for sales recorded within 48 hours of a jersey being released.
Fans flocked to snap up the No. 17 jersey with shops struggling to keep up with demand.
At a rate of more than double the previous record holder, Argentine football star Lionel Messi, Ohtani’s new shirt worn by the Japanese superstar at his introductory press conference with the Dodgers this week, flew off the railings at stores across the country.
